We generate placement linkages before the start of training as a forward integration to ensure employment of the youth from day one of the program. This process consists of the following three elements
Community engagement exercises are undertaken to reach out to youth in desired locations and to create awareness of the training program, allied benefits and the impact it could create on their lives. Confidential │GIES Community engagement coordinators facilitating the activity are equipped with a standard Community Engagement kit. Community engagement can be broadly split into the following activities:
Outreach activities are conducted by various means to spread the message about availability of placement linked training programs. The various modes of outreach are:
Youth is given details about the duration of training, location of training center and placement opportunities. Wherever possible, prospective employer representatives are involved in this process so that they can share placement details with candidates. At some places video about the prospective employer/s is beamed to spread awareness about the program. Parents of prospective candidates are sensitized about the training program as well as placement opportunities. With regards to placement, they are told about the location of placement, salary structure, post placement support and the helpline number. This helps in their buying in and contributes greatly to the retention process
The candidates willing to join training program and take placement upon successful completion undergo screening tests as per the trade of their choice. These tests are very simple but scientific in approach and are meant to assess suitability of the trade for the candidate. In case of Solar and Power trades, selection tests are in form of physical devices on which some activity has to be performed. Like, In case of Suryamitra trade, the candidate must have a certain level of Panel
